After an exciting and intriguing double-header Saturday, it is now time for the Super Sunday, where hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be playing Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the afternoon encounter on March 31 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. The hosts are coming into this game by opening their account with a sensational victory. On the other hand, the Virat Kohli-led team has so far conceded two terrible losses in the season.
After registering a special 5-wicket win against Rajasthan Royals (RR), Sunrisers are portraying to look as a pretty brutal batting combination. Their comeback man, David Warner has displayed staggering performances in both the games. His opening partner, Jonny Bairstow has lent complete support to Warner with his powerful exploits with the bat. While in the middle-order, Vijay Shankar has emerged as the rising star.
The biggest concern for the SRH team management will be the struggles of its rather quality bowling attack. Their bowling has lacked the consistency in both wicket-taking and restricting aspects. They need to address this issue pretty quickly in order to extend this winning momentum.
On the other hand, the RCB thinktank have a lot of headaches to ponder about before their third game of the season. It looks like the same old problems are once again coming back to haunt the 2016 finalists. If you exclude skipper Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers from that batting line-up, RCB's batting will surely get crippled and that was the case in the previous two seasons as well. The rest of the batters desperately need to up their game in order to improve their team's fortunes in IPL 2019.
The RCB team management also needs to find a solution to end their death bowling woes. The Indian fast bowling trio of Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj and Navdeep Saini has so far failed to deliver with impactful performances at the crucial moments and thus, they will be desperately hoping to come good this time around.
Head to Head Battle
In 13 IPL matches played between the two teams, SRH have went on to win on 7 occasions, while RCB have won 5 times and one match ended without a final result.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s likely Playing XI
The best opening pair of this IPL 2019 season, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow will be opening the batting and they will be looking to continue the good work in this game as well. SRH regular skipper Kane Williamson, who returned from injury in the last game, will take up the No.3 position in the batting order. The skipper will head the middle-order which will include the likes of Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey and Yusuf Pathan. The duo of Deepak Hooda and Shakib Al Hasan will once again sit out in the upcoming game.
Shahbaz Nadeem did a decent job in his debut game for Sunrisers and he is likely to retain his place. Sandeep Sharma is likely to make way for Khaleel Ahmed as the former has looked ordinary in the first two games. Khaleel will partner Bhuvneshwar and Siddarth in the fast bowling department, while Rashid and Nadeem will handle the spin bowling duties.
Probable XI: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Siddarth Kaul, Khaleel Ahmed.
Royal Challengers Bangalore’s likely Playing XI
RCB is likely to stick with the same opening combination of Parthiv Patel and Moeen Ali as it will allow skipper Virat Kohli to bat in the middle-order. The rest of the middle-order batters will be AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer and Shivam Dube. Even after failing to deliver in the previous match, the duo comprising of Shimron Hetmyer and Colin de Grandhomme are likely to be given another chance, before getting replaced.
RCB do not have many star bowlers on the bench right now, who can probably do the job at the death overs stage and thus, the trio of Siraj, Saini and Umesh will retain their respective spots. RCB’s premier leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal who displayed sensational performances in the last two outings, will partner with Moeen Ali in the spin bowling department.
Probable XI: Moeen Ali, Parthiv Patel (wk), Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Shimron Hetmyer, Shivam Dube, Colin de Grandhomme, Umesh Yadav, Navdeep Saini, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.
