IPL 2019, Match 12- CSK Vs RR, Preview: Pitch In Focus As Chennai Hope To Record Hat-Trick Of Wins

In the second game of the Super Sunday, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be hosting Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. The Chepauk track has been under the radar since the opening match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 edition. In that game, the ball started turning massively from the first over itself, which in turn saw Bangalore crumble for a mere total of 70 runs. Thus, the wicket in Chennai will be under some serious focus in the twelfth game of the tournament.

Hosts Chennai Super Kings are coming off two convincing victories against Bangalore and Delhi. They have a pretty settled and balanced unit. However, the batters are yet to deal with the pressure situations as in both the games, the defending champions were chasing thin totals. The duo comprising of Ambati Rayudu and Suresh Raina have failed to convert their respective starts into big scores and they will be eyeing to improve the same in the upcoming match.

Whereas the bowlers have displayed sensational performances in the two matches, with the spinners and fast bowlers both doing really well. They will be looking to continue the good work in this game as well.

On the other hand, the Rajasthan Royals are yet to open its account in the tournament, conceding two disappointing losses in as many as games played this season. Their top-order batters have done a fantastic job in both the games with skipper Ajinkya Rahane, Jos Buttler getting a fifty each and Sanju Samson smashing a brilliant and the first hundred of IPL 2019 in the previous game. The middle-order is also well-equipped but they haven't got enough of chances.

The biggest concern for the team management will be the struggles of the bowlers as they have leaked a lot of runs and lacked the consistency in the two defeats. Thus, they will now desperately be eyeing to up their game and execute the plans properly in this match.

Chennai Super Kings’ likely Playing XI

CSK are likely to go with the principle, why fix anything which is not broken. Thus, it seems they will field the same team which played the last two matches. This means that Ambati Rayudu will open the batting along with Shane Watson. Suresh Raina will take up the crucial No.3 spot and will lead the middle-order which will include skipper MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav.

Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo will be the two all-rounders. They will surely play three spinners in Jadeja, Harbhajan and Tahir, while the trio of Bravo, Shardul and Chahar will take care of the pace bowling duties.

Probable XI: Shane Watson, Ambati Rayudu, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir.

Rajasthan Royals’ likely Playing XI

For Rajasthan, Jos Buttler and Ajinkya Rahane as usual will be the two openers. The only centurion of IPL 2019, Sanju Samson will bat at the No.3 position. The duo comprising of Steve Smith and Ben Stokes are going to bat four and five respectively with Rahul Tripathi coming at No.6. Tripathi will have to guard the finisher's role along with Gowtham and Rahul.

Royals' latest recruit Varun Aaron is likely to replace one of the two Indian fast bowlers, Dhawal Kulkarni or Jaydev Unadkat. They could also include Ish Sodhi to increase the spin resources as the track will be pretty accustomed for the slow bowlers.

Probable XI: Jos Buttler (wk), Ajinkya Rahane (c), Sanju Samson, Steve Smith, Ben Stokes, Rahul Tripathi, Krishnappa Gowtham, Shreyas Gopal, Varun Aaron, Jofra Archer, Jaydev Unadkat.
