Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell has grabbed massive headlines in just the first week of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 extravaganza. The big-hitting West Indian has contributed with match-winning performances in the first two games against Sunrisers Hyderabad and Kings XI Punjab (SRH). He blasted a stunning knock of 49 runs off just 19 balls and also scored a blistering innings of 48 runs against Punjab. He was adjudged as the Man of the Match in both the games. Russell also played a blistering knock of 62 runs off just 28 balls in the recent game against Delhi Capitals (DC).
I am glad I don’t have to bowl to Russell
During a recent interview, Russell’s KKR teammate Kuldeep Yadav mentioned that they are very much pleased to have a player like Russell who can change the game on its head. The KKR leggie also revealed that he feels fortunate that he doesn’t need to bowl to the big West Indian power-hitting batter.
“You need a player who can change the game for you. We have Russell in that category. He is a perfect game changer for us. We all are proud of him. When he is on fire, he is unstoppable. I am glad I don’t have to bowl to him (Russell),” Kuldeep Yadav was quoted as saying in The Times of India.
We have showed fighting spirit
With two sensational victories, the two time winners, the Knight Riders are currently placed on the fourth position on the points table. Kuldeep noted that they have been playing very well and is confident that his KKR team will win their third IPL title this year. “He is the kind of player who can destroy any bowler’s economy rate. The way we have been playing and have showed fighting spirit, I think KKR will win the trophy this year,” he added.
