IPL 2019, Match 16- DD Vs SRH, Preview: Struggling Delhi Up Against Warner-Bairstow Challenge

In the 16th game of the captivating Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 extravaganza, Delhi Capitals will be hosting the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 4 at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium. The Shreyas Iyer-led young brigade have had a topsy-curvy start to their campaign, indulging in some real close games and then throwing the match away in the worst possible manner. On the other hand, the visitors are coming into this match with a great winning momentum, registering two successive victories in the last two games.

The Delhi team management has a lot many headaches to ponder about before starting its fifth game of the season. The biggest concern after the monumental batting collapse will be the current form of the top-order as well as middle-order batsmen. There have been just two standout batting performances in Rishabh Pant's opening game exploits or Prithvi Shaw's gem of a knock against Kolkata. The rest of the batters as well as these two players have to bat with some sort of responsibility.

Their bowling has been up to the mark in this season as both the fast bowlers as well as the pacers have bowled really well. They would now be hoping to continue their good work in this game as well.

The visitors will be entering into this game at the back of a massive victory over the Virat Kohli-led Bangalore team. The opening duo comprising of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow have been in a staggering form, registering three record successive hundred-plus stands. While the middle-order batters have not got much of opportunities to prove their mettle due to the openers' dominance and thus, their batting looks pretty sorted.

However, they do have some concerns in the bowling contingent and biggest of that is Bhuvneshwar Kumar disappointing form. The stand-in skipper has not even managed to pick up a single wicket from three matches and more importantly he has been really expensive.

Head to Head Battle

Overall (12)

At the Feroz Shah Kotla (4)

Delhi Capitals’ likely Playing XI

Shikhar Dhawan is yet to play a big match-winning knock for Delhi Capitals and he couldn’t ask for a better venue than his home ground. He will be opening the batting along with Prithvi Shaw. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer will head the middle-order with the dangerous Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram coming in at five. Hanuma Vihari failed to leave a mark in his debut game and he is likely to make way for Axar Patel.

In the fast bowling department, Chris Morris will partner with the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Avesh Khan and Harshal Patel. Nepal’s Sandeep Lamichhane will handle the spin bowling duties along with Axar Patel.

Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Colin Ingram, Axar Patel, Chris Morris, Kagiso Rabada, Harshal Patel, Sandeep Lamichhane, Avesh Khan.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s likely Playing XI

The best opening pair of this IPL 2019 season, David Warner and Jonny Bairstow will be opening the batting and they will be looking to continue the good work in this game as well. There is still not clarity on regular SRH skipper Kane Williamson’s availability status and thus, Bhuvneshwar will lead the team in his absence. Vijay Shankar will come in at three with Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan and Deepak Hooda to follow.

Mohammad Nabi performed amazingly well in the last game and thus, he will play in this match as well. He along with his Afghanistan teammate, Rashid Khan will form part of the spin bowling department. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul will be the three fast bowlers.

Probable XI: Jonny Bairstow (wk), David Warner, Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Yusuf Pathan, Deepak Hooda, Mohammad Nabi, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar (c), Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma.
