IPL 2019, Match 26- KKR Vs DC, Preview: Agonized Knight Riders Aim For Retaliation Against Confident Delhi

In the 26th match of the intriguing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 extravaganza, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be hosting the Delhi Capitals (DC) at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata on April 12. The last time these two teams met earlier in the tournament, the Feroz Shah Kotla crowd got to witness an absolute incredible encounter which went down the wire with DC picking up a brilliant win in the first super over of IPL 2019. However, both the team have come quite far away from that result. The hosts have been on a rampant run thus far in the season, winning four out of the six games, while Delhi have recorded three wins and as many losses too in the T20 competition.

KKR’s backstory

The Dinesh Karthik-led team will be coming into this game after conceding a disappointing loss at the hands Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the previous outing. The loss was purely the resultant of the poor batting show on a sluggish Chepauk wicket. After the fall of some quick wickets at the top, the rest of the batters missed the trick to revise the final target and incorporate a slight cautious approach. Instead majority of the KKR middle-order batsmen tried to dominate the matters with the explosive approach and hence they also paid the price for it. The batters would now be hoping to put forward an improved effort in this game to once again bring back the home team on the splendid winning run.

In spite of defending a below-par first innings total, the three KKR spinners as well as the fast bowlers displayed sensational combined effort to show some sort of fight. The KKR team management would be expecting the bowlers to keep up the good work in the upcoming games as well.

DC’s backstory

On the other hand, the Shreyas Iyer-led Delhi Capitals will be entering this game at the back of a clinical performance to emerge victorious against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the previous match. However, in spite of that convincing win, there are still some definite chinks in DC batting line-up. The biggest concern for the Delhi team management and also the Indian team will be the atrocious form of Shikhar Dhawan thus far in the season. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Colin Ingram and Rishabh Pant have also failed to convert their respective starts into bigger innings which has further piled on to the misery.

Nonetheless keeping the past aside, the batters will be eyeing to contribute with significant performances in the rest of the upcoming matches. However, the DC bowlers have still done decently well so far in the tournament. The likes of Kagiso Rabada, Sandeep Lamichhane and Chris Morris surely deserve the major credit for the efficient bowling effort.
