Already Learning So Many Things From Ponting And Ganguly: Shikhar Dhawan

Before the start of the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), there were a theory doing the rounds on whether the two legendary and rival skipper, Ricky Ponting (Head Coach) and Sourav Ganguly (Advisor) who will be working in association for the Delhi Capitals (DC), will be able to gel well together or not. However, the former cricketer duo has almost transformed the faith of the Delhi-based franchise to a total different level.

Delhi Capitals, who are yet to win an IPL title, have experienced a sensational run thus far in the 12th edition of the league, winning seven of the games played so far and with an excellent tally of 14 points in their baggage, the Delhi-based franchise is very comfortably placed to book a berth in the playoffs for the first time in the history of the tournament.

I am fortunate to have working with them

During a recent conversation, Delhi Capitals opener Shikhar Dhawan credited Sourav and Ponting for his successful run in the last few games. In 11 matches played this season, Dhawan has composed a total of 401 runs at a decent average of 40.10. He has smashed four half-centuries which also includes a scintillating unbeaten 97-run knock. Dhawan revealed that he has received a lot of insights about the game from both Sourav and Ponting.

“Ricky Ponting and Sourav Ganguly…I am very fortunate that I am working with them now. They both have been great leaders. It is very good to be close to them because I can get their insight, know what was their mindset, what was their approach when they used to play or captain their side,” quoted Shikhar Dhawan.

I am grateful for that

Dhawan further noted that he has already learned quite a few things from the two legendary cricketers and it has helped him amazingly well. He stated that he is implementing those learnings in the ongoing edition of the IPL and will keep them in the mind while playing for India in the 2019 World Cup.

“I am already learning so many things from them (and) it is helping me. I am grateful (for) that. I am sure those things are helping me in the IPL and I am going to take it to the World Cup,” Dhawan added.
