MI Vs SRH: The Game Changing Moment Was The Eight Overs Of Spin Says Rohit Sharma

Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a smashing victory against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai in a thrilling encounter on Thursday. After a long, intriguing battle of 40 overs, the match ended in a draw and then the matters proceeded into the Super Over. In the one-over eliminator, first Jasprit Bumrah bowled brilliantly to limit the opposition and then the MI duo of Hardik Pandya compensated for his final over bashing before Kieron Pollard finally sealing the playoffs berth for the three-time champions with a thrilling victory.

Earlier in the match, Mumbai Indians registered a fighting first innings total on the back of a fine half-century knock from Quinton de Kock. In the second innings, SRH in-form batsman Manish Pandey batted extremely well along with Mohammad Nabi to take the game towards the dramatic super over the finish.

“Feels good knowing that we are amongst the top four now. Not easy to come through the ranks and we have played some consistent cricket throughout and we have the results for it. We wanted to put runs on the board, the pitch played good for all 40 overs and runs on the board is crucial and I knew that we didn’t get the score we wanted but we knew if we get early wickets we can put the pressure on their middle order,” quoted Rohit Sharma during the post-match press conference.

They bowled very well

Rohit heaped praises on Manish Pandey, who played a superlative knock of 71 runs to take the matters of the game towards the super over the finish. The skipper noted that the two spinners, Rahul Chahar and Krunal Pandya bowled amazingly well to restrict the opposition batsmen in the middle-overs stage. “Manish batted really well and he played some excellent shots but I think the game-changing moment was the eight overs of spin. They bowled very well and contained the batsmen which was very important at that stage,” Rohit added.

The MI skipper further praised Bumrah for his fantastic spell and noted that he is improving with every next game. “He’s (Bumrah) been brilliant for us and he keeps improving every game and he is hungry for success. He wants to be out there and express himself and he understands that he is a lead bowler for us. He held the nerve in the crucial overs and in the Super Over as well,” he concluded.
