Rajputs’ star batsman Mohammad Shahzad is celebrating his 31st birthday today. The Afghanistan batter represented the Rajputs franchise in the second edition of the T10 Cricket League. He became a popular name in the T10 circuit last year due to his exemplary unbeaten knock of 74 runs off just 16 balls during a match against the Sindhis.
Shahzad’s astounding knock
During the recently concluded edition of the T10 League, Shahzad played an outstanding unbeaten innings against the Sindhis team in the opening game of the tournament. He played a scintillating unbeaten innings of 74 runs off just 16 deliveries at an explosive strike rate of 462.50. His monstrous display of innings included six fours and eight sixes. Shahzad’s aggressive brand of cricket helped the Rajputs achieve the target of 95 runs in a matter of just four overs. During his blazing knock, former Kiwi batter Brendon McCullum, who was batting at the other end, looked as a mere spectator as the Rajputs defeated the Sindhis with six overs to spare.
He played 6 games in the last edition of the T10 Cricket League for the Rajputs in which he scored 117 runs at a powerful strike rate of 216.66. During his staggering knock in the opening match against the Sindhis, Shahzad also recorded the fastest fifty of the competition which came off just 12 balls.
Shahzad’s numbers in international cricket
Since making his international debut against Netherlands in 2009, Shahzad has played 77 ODIs and 64 T20Is for Afghanistan in which he has scored 2,544 and 1,860 runs respectively. In the 50-overs format, he has smacked 5 centuries and 13 fifties, while he also recorded a fabulous hundred against Zimbabwe in January 2016 during a T20I game. The right-hander is also the highest run-scorer for Afghanistan in the limited-overs forms of the game.
