The Indian Team Had A Picnic On The Field Says Basit Ali

“If you are chasing 337 runs and in the first 10 overs you only make 28 runs in which two fielders are in the outer circle, then according to me India played those 10 overs really bad.”

The Indian defeat against the England team wasn’t only disappointing for the Indian fans but it also left the Pakistani cricket enthusiasts baffled. The defeat of Indian team and the victory of the English team ended the dreams of Pakistan making it to the semi-finals as England stepped ahead of the Pakistan team in the points table. This is something that is being condemned by the Pakistani fans who believe that Indian batted really slow and ended with a comfortable defeat of five wickets as well. The same is being reckoned by the former Pakistani cricketer Basit Ali who criticized the Indian batters for their slow batting against England in the World Cup and eventually losing the match by 31 runs on Sunday.

The batsmen were just making sure they were in good form

The Indian team was left with a mammoth target of 338 runs and they started playing slowly and could not manage to score the necessary runs. Whilst, speaking to the Pakistani news channel after India’s defeat, Basit Ali said that the Indian team was actually having a picnic on the field. “If you are chasing 337 runs and in the first 10 overs you only make 28 runs in which two fielders are in the outer circle, then according to me India played those 10 overs really bad. They had a picnic on the field. The batsmen were just making sure they were in good form. Rohit Sharma scored a century at his own time, Virat Kohli score his 66 so leisurely. It was just Pandya who was hitting and scored 45 off 33 balls,” said Ali.

Not only this, but Ali prior to the start of the match between England and India said that India might play bad intentionally and lose their matches against Bangladesh and Sri Lanka. With England’s win, the hope of the Pakistani team to make it to the semi-finals are all in vain. The team now needs to win their last match against Bangladesh on Friday and hope the New Zealand beat Sri Lanka in their last encounter on Wednesday so that they can step up to the knockout stage.
