I Really Want The World Cup To Stay In The Subcontinent Says Shoaib Akhtar

The league matches of the World Cup ended with India, Australia, England and New Zealand is the top four positions in the points table. The first semi-final is scheduled to happen between India and New Zealand at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Tuesday. The venue, Old Trafford is special for all the teams who batted first, eventually winning the match. The Indian team will be trying to make their mark in the World Cup after winning the first semi-final of the tournament.

Apart from losing the match against England by 31 runs at Edgbaston in Birmingham, the Indian team has crushed all the opponents on their side. India is currently at the top of the points table with 15 points after winning 7 out of 9 matches played in the World Cup. The Black Caps had an unbeaten record for the initial six matches but later went on to lose three matches in a row.

New Zealand can’t take the pressure

Talking about the same, Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani cricketer said that India is well deserving to go and lift the trophy and he will want it to stay in the Asian sub-continent only. He further said that New Zealand doesn’t have the power of handling pressure when the opponents slay onto them. “New Zealand can’t take the pressure. I hope they don’t choke this time. But I really want the World Cup to stay in the subcontinent and I think, I will back India all the way,” said Akhtar.

Rohit Sharma has great timing and shot selection

He further went on to praise Rohit Sharma who is currently the lead scorer of the ongoing World Cup 2019 with a total of 647 runs at an average of 92.42. Sharma, 32, scored magnificent runs against Sri Lanka in Leeds and so he became the first batsman with five centuries in a single edition of the World Cup. “Rohit Sharma has great timing and shot selection. His understanding of the game is also superb. K.L. Rahul also got his ton which is a good thing,” said Sharma.
