TNPL 2019, Match6- RTW Vs CSG, Preview: Battered Teams Looking For Opening Win

In the sixth match of the exciting Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2019 extravaganza, the Ruby Trichy Warriors (RTW) will be locking horns with Chepauk Super Gillies (CSG) at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli on July 23, Tuesday. Both the teams are coming into this game pretty much low on confidence as they have conceded losses in their respective previous outings. The Super Gillies managed to win only a solitary match last season and they can’t afford a similar kind of start this year as well.

They were undone by the Dindigul Dragons in the tournament opener and will be aiming to get their campaign back on track. Trichy Warriors were involved in a thriller, on the other hand, against Karaikudi Kaalai as the match was tied. But they lost in the super over as the skipper Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore couldn’t defend 10 runs.

Ruby Trichy Warriors likely Playing XI

Warriors were unlucky to lose their opening game on a super over. Though some of the bowling figures were a little expensive, they looked well-balanced and could stick with the same starting XI. Murali Vijay proved his class and experience in hitting 81 from 56 balls at the top of the order last time out; the 35-year-old is an established IPL star with two centuries in that tournament during his career.

Saravan Kumar, the paceman took 3-32 in the opening game to be comfortably the Trichy Warriors’ stand-out bowler.

Ravisrinvasan Sai Kishore could not quite get the Trichy Warriors over the line with the bat, having earlier impressed with an economical 1-26 from his four overs with the ball.

Probable XI: S Aravind, Murali Vijay, Aditya Barooah, Maaruthi Raghav, Chandrasekar Ganapathy, Mani Bharathi (wk), Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore (c), Saravan Kumar, Lakshminarayanan Vignesh, Kannan Vignesh, M Poiyamozhi.

Chepauk Super Gillies likely Playing XI

The Super Gillies’ bowlers excelled on the opening day but they were let down by the batsmen as they failed to chase down 116 to win. It may be too early for changes just yet, but the top order in particular must improve this time. Vijay Shankar is not in the India squad to tour West Indies but is unlikely to feature for the Super Gillies as he recovers from the foot injury he suffered at the World Cup. R Alexander is the stand-out bowler in an excellent bowling unit, the 24-year-old looks to have stepped up from being just economical to being a genuine wicket-taker now too after claiming 3-11 against Dindigul Dragons.

Murugan Ashwin played for Kings XI Punjab in the IPL and took 2-15 as well as scoring 16 in the opening game of this tournament against the Dragons. Skipper Kaushik Gandhi was out first ball last time out and, opening the batting, he will have a lot to prove this time. Though not known for his big hitting, he can hold an end for his team-mates on his day.

Probable XI: Kaushik Gandhi (c), Ganga Sridhar Raju, Gopinath, A Aarif (wk), Uthirasamy Sasidev, Murugan Ashwin, M Siddharth, Harish Kumar, D Rahul, G Periyaswamy, R Alexander.
