TNPL 2019, Match7- KK Vs VBKV, Preview: In-Form Kaalais Ready To Take Down The Veerans

In the seventh match of the exciting Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2019, Karaikudi Kaalai (KK) will be locking horns with VB Kanchi Veerans (VBKV) at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul on July 24, Wednesday. Both the teams are coming into this game after witnessing contrasting results unfold in their respective previous outings. A nail-biting game of cricket thoroughly entertained the fans when the Karaikudi Kaalai stepped onto the field for the first game of TNPL 2019.

The game against Ruby Trichy Warriors went into a super over. That was when skipper Srikkanth Anirudha hit two consecutive sixes to earn his team two points. Unfortunately for this team though, the result didn’t go their way in the last outing.

They conceded an easy victory to the Lyca Kovai Kings and have got a lot to ponder upon. They will clearly want to turn the tables around and get back to the winning ways. However, the Kaalais have had a morale-boosting victory and the momentum is on their side. They’d look to keep that going and back their second consecutive victory.

Head to Head Battle

Karaikudi Kaalai likely Playing XI

After a few expensive bowling figures last time out, Karaikudi Kaalai could be thinking about introducing a sixth bowling option. Those that were expensive took wickets, however, which may be enough to earn a second crack at it. S Swaminathan did not bowl either, so there are already options without tweaking the starting line-up. Dinesh Karthik did not feature in the first game, and his involvement is yet to be confirmed.

Probable XI: V Aditya, Srikkanth Anirudha (c, wk), Laxmesha Suryaprakash, Rajhamany Srinivasan, Maan Bafna, M Shajahan, R Rajkumar, S Swaminathan, Sunil Sam, Velidi Lakshman, S Mohan Prasath.

VB Kanchi Veerans likely Playing XI

Rangaraj Suthesh and NS Harish, two of VB Kanchi Veerans’ four draft signings, stepped into the starting XI for the first game. K Gowthan Thamarai Kannan could slot in for one of them, after both were expensive. Suresh Lokesh was the stand-out for VB Kanchi Veerans in their opening defeat, scoring 51 from 41 balls to anchor their total of 150/6. Baba Aparajith scored a little slowly but did post 29 with the bat before proving to be the most economical bowler too.

The captain will need to step his scoring rate up now, however. P Francis Rokins, his late blows – a seven-ball 25 – were the difference between too low a score and a target worth defending. While it proved in vain, it was another reminder of his big-hitting capabilities down the order and may be enough to earn a promotion this time.

Probable XI: K Vishal Vaidhya, Sanjay Yadav, Suresh Lokeshwar (wk), Baba Aparajith (c), RS Mokit Hariharan, P Francis Rokins, Rajagopal Sathish, Rangaraj Suthesh, R Silambarasan, Gowtham Thamarai Kannan, Raju Aushik Srinivas.
