In the seventh match of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2019, the VB Kanchi Veerans (VBKV) have registered a sensational 110-run victory over the Karaikudi Kaalai (KK) at the NPR College Ground in Dindigul. The Kanchi Veerans team performed really well throughout the duration of the game both with the bat and the ball.
After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, VB Kanchi Veerans got off to a disappointing start as they lost the wicket of their opening batsman U Mukilesh in just the first over of the innings. The pair of Vishal Vaidhya and Sanjay Yadav got together to bail their team out of the troublesome situation. The duo batted really well to stitch an excellent stand of 71 runs for the second wicket before Vishal got out in the 10th over.
However, Yadav kept playing his natural aggressive game at the other end and stitched important partnerships along with Baba Aparajith and Rajagopal Sathish. Yadav played a sensational innings of 95 runs off 60 balls that included of seven fours and six sixes before getting dismissed by S Mohan Prasath in the 20th over.
Towards the end, Sathish contributed with an unbeaten knock of 31 runs to help the Veerans finish with 177 runs on the board. For Karaikudi Kaalai, Sunil Sam picked up two scalps, while V Lakshman and Prasath took a wicket each.
Sathish’s four-fer puts the Kaalais in deep trouble
Chasing an imposing target of 178 runs in the second innings, the Kaalais also didn’t get off to the best of starts losing three wickets in the form of Srikkanth Anirudha, V Aditya and Rajhamany Srinivasan with just 31 runs on the board. The trio of L Suryaprakash, Yo Mahesh and Maan Bafna then got out in the same over leaving their team in deep trouble at 31 for 5. Rajagopal Sathish bowled a fabulous over to pick three wickets in a single over.
The Kaalais continued to lose wickets at regular intervals after the early damage and eventually bundled out for a paltry total of 67 runs in just 14.4 overs. For the Kanchi Veerans, Sathish finished with four crucial wickets, while Gowtham took two scalps.
