TNPL 2019, Match11- LKK Vs RTW, Preview: Battered Kings Ready To Take Down The Warriors Challenge

In the second match of the Saturday (July 27) double-header of the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2019 edition, the Lyca Kovai Kings (LKK) will be locking horns with Ruby Trichy Warriors (RTW) at the Indian Cement Company Ground in Tirunelveli. Both the teams are coming into this game after conceding heartening losses in their respective previous outings. Kovai Kings suffered a massive heartbreak in the last game against the TUTI Patriots. They were so close to a win, yet, ended up being so far.

In a match that was reduced to 13 overs per side, the Kings fell short of the target by a mere 6 runs. Even though they lost this match, their NRR is still quite high and the side will look to capitalise on that.

As they face the Ruby Trichy Warriors in the upcoming encounter, the Kovai Kings will look to get back on track with a victory. The Warriors haven’t had the kind of season they’d have hoped for thus far.

The team lost both the games and is languishing at the bottom of the points table. Gaining the momentum back and getting to the winning ways will be a tough ask for them and they’ll need to come up with an inspirational performance.

Head to Head Battle

      Lyca Kovai Kings

   Ruby Trichy Warriors

Lyca Kovai Kings likely Playing XI

Kovai Kings opted for an extra pace bowler last time out, with Jaganath Srinivas replacing S Ajith Ram in the starting XI. There was also a change behind the stumps, as Ranjan Paul made way for Mohammed Ashik. Abhinav Mukund started the season by hitting an unbeaten 70 from 44 balls in the win against VB Kanchi Veerans and the captain will want to bounce back from his first-ball dismissal against TUTI Patriots.

Anthony Das after taking three wickets with the ball, the big-hitting all-rounder nearly led Kovai Kings to victory as he hammered seven sixes on his way to a 26-ball 63. His dismissal ultimately ended the Kovai Kings’ charge as they finished just short. Thangarasu Natarajan who was last year’s leading Kovai Kings’ wicket-taker, has picked up where he left off with two relatively economical spells and two wickets in the win against VB Kanchi Veerans.

Probable XI: Shahrukh Khan, Abhinav Mukund (c), Balchander Anirudh, Mohammed Ashik (wk), Akkil Srinaath, W Antony Dhas, Malolan Rangarajan, Jaganath Srinivas, Krishnamoorthy Vignesh, S Manigandan, Thangarasu Natarajan.

Ruby Trichy Warriors likely Playing XI

Star man Murali Vijay was missing last time out, with R Sathyanarayan in his place. The Trichy Warriors will be keen for their key man to return this time. That was otherwise their only change from their tied opening match. Vijay having hammered 81 from 56 balls at the top of the order in the Trichy Warriors’ opening game. He was a big miss last time out and the Trichy Warriors need him back.

P Saravan Kumar took three wickets in the first game and two last time out, as well as being one of the only batsmen to offer any kind of resistance against the Chepauk Super Gillies as he finished unbeaten on 22 down the order. K Mani Bharathi has already showed his aggressive batting intent in this tournament and more time in the middle could prove very productive for the Trichy Warriors.

Probable XI: S Aravind, Murali Vijay, Aditya Barooah, Maaruthi Raghav, Chandrasekar Ganapathy, K Mani Bharathi (wk), R Sai Kishore (c), Saravan Kumar, Lakshminarayanan Vignesh, Kannan Vignesh, M Poiyamozhi.
