The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently took a big decision as the national team captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was sacked as the skipper from all the three formats. In its bid to turn over their fortunes, PCB even dropped Sarfaraz from the Pakistan team for the upcoming tour to Australia. This huge decision came into play after Pakistan suffered a crushing whitewash in the recent home T20I series at the hands of Sri Lanka.
Young talented batsman Babar Azam was appointed as the T20I captain, while Azhar Ali will lead Pakistan in Test matches. The PCB is yet to announce Sarfaraz’s captaincy replacement in ODIs but according to reports, Babar is expected to be given the captaincy duties in ODIs as well. He is also reported to be named the vice-captain in the longest format of the game.
The reports further stated that wicket-keeper batsman Mohammad Rizwan is the frontrunner to be appointed as the vice-captain in T20Is. Pakistan will be touring Australia later this year to play a three-match T20I series and a couple of Test matches.
