The buzz for the exciting and entertaining 2020 T20 World Cup in Australia is already to the core. All the teams have started with their preparations for the important mega event and they will be hoping to perform with their best of abilities in the global tournament. The 45-match event will be commencing from October 2020.
It has always been a tradition that the former cricketers nominate the top teams before any mega tournament. Former Australian cricketer Adam Gilchrist nominated his choice of semi-finalist picks for the T20 World Cup in Australia scheduled to be held next year.
“Probably they (India) will be featuring in semi-finals and the finals. I can’t predict who is going to win but I suspect that the usual suspects like India, England, Australia, and New Zealand will probably make a long way, semi-finals of course,” quoted Adam Gilchrist.
Pakistan cannot be ruled out of contention
Gilchrist noted that Pakistan is currently the No.1 ranked T20I side and thus, they will be strong contenders for the shortest format World Cup. However, the former wicket-keeper batsman also accepted the fact that in T20I cricket, it is very much difficult to predict the winner because there are a lot of factors on the stake.
“Pakistan are the number one ranked team in the format, so you cannot rule them out. But T20 cricket is a bit of lottery so it is hard to predict the winner until the final runs are scored or wickets are taken,” Gilchrist added.
