Rohit Sharma-led young Indian brigade displayed an absolutely sensational performance to beat Bangladesh in the series deciding match in Nagpur. With this victory, India sealed the three-match T20I series 2-1. After India loss the wickets of the two openers, Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan with just 35 runs on the board, young Shreyas Iyer took the responsibility on his shoulders to guide India to a challenging total.
Iyer and KL Rahul added 59 runs for the third wicket stand and both the batters compiled impressive half-centuries. Iyer showed remarkable composure and played his natural game as well during the excellent knock of 62 runs off just 33 balls that included five big sixes and three fours.
“For me personally, they (team management) have given me a heads up that ‘You’ll be there at No.4. So just back yourself and believe in yourself’. Even if Kohli and Rohit get out, we need someone to finish the game and bat till the end.’ That is a No. 4’s role. That’s what I was trying to replicate today and it worked out really well for me,” quoted Shreyas Iyer.
