With every passing day, there seems to a new update coming on MS Dhoni’s future in international cricket. The uncertainty prevailing over Dhoni and the suspense of whether he will be seen Indian colours once again or not took a major turn as Indian head coach Ravi Shastri has mentioned that the veteran will definitely play the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Shastri revealed that he has had a conversation with Dhoni and that is between the two of them.
Shastri stated that Dhoni will never impose himself onto the national team. The Indian head coach also accepted the fact that after a fabulous performance in IPL 2020, the senior wicket-keeper batsman will surely come into contention for the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year. He noted that the experience and form will be important criteria.
“I have had a conversation with MS and that is between us. He has finished his Test career, he may soon end his ODI career. So, he will be left with T20, he will definitely play the IPL. One thing I know about Dhoni is that he will not impose himself on the team. But if he has a cracking IPL, well, then..” quoted Ravi Shastri.
“We will have to consider a person’s experience and form. They will bat in the number 5-6 position. If Dhoni plays well in IPL then he does put himself in contention,” he said.
