The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has fixed the date for the resumption of the Indian Premier League 2021 (IPL 2021) to be held in the UAE. The first match of the second phase will be played on September 19, while the final will be held on October 15. Dussehra is also on this day. Speaking to news agency ANI, a BCCI official said that the discussions between the BCCI and the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) went well and the Indian board is confident that the rest of the IPL matches will be successfully held in Dubai, Sharjah and Abu Dhabi.
According to news agency ANI, the official said that the discussions were really good and the ECB had given verbal approval to host the tournament even before the BCCI SGM. It was approved last week. The first match after the resumption of the season will take place on 19 September. The final will be on October 15. BCCI was always looking for 25 days of video to organize the remaining matches.
Asked about the situation regarding the availability of foreign players, the official said talks are on and BCCI is expecting a positive outcome. "Discussions have started and we are expecting more foreign players to be available," he said. If some players are not able to come, we will see what to do next. But right now we are expecting the 14th edition to be organized in UAE.
