The former Indian skipper, Sourav Ganguly who has himself led the grenade of his team to the World Cup final in 2003, picks up his 15-member squad for the upcoming extravaganza of the World Cup 2019. He also said that the bowling attack of the team will play a considerable part in deciding the performance of the Men in Blue and so he feels that pacers are a really important part of the team.
KL Rahul is great as the third opener for the team
Sourav Ganguly furthered by saying that the team should not misbalance the regular openers comprising of Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan of the team. He furthered by saying that KL Rahul is perfect as the third opener for the team. The former player, Ganguly backed Dhawan saying that he is going through a lean phase at the moment but will be back just in time before the World Cup.
Ganguly said that the backbone of the Indian team is the fantastic pacers that strengthen the bowling attack of the team. He also said that the pacers will play an important factor for the team in England as well. “The Indian pace attack is fantastic. Whether it’s Bumrah or Shami, the Indian pacers are performing consistently. The pacers will play an important factor for the team in England. The opening combination should not be tweaked. Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan are the ideal pair to give India a fast start. But K L Rahul is also there,” he said.
I think Vijay deserves his World Cup spot reckons Ganguly
Ganguly said that the middle order of the team should be handled by Virat Kohli, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav. Also when asked about who should be picked for the between Ravindra Jadeja and Vijay Shankar, he said Shankar impressed with both his bat and ball in the Nagpur ODI and so he deserves a spot in the World Cup. “Ravindra Jadeja should not be in the World Cup team. Vijay Shankar bowled beautifully in the Nagpur match. I think Vijay deserves his World Cup spot,” he concluded.
