After a brilliant and sensational performance in the recently concluded India tour, the visiting Australian team is all set to lock horns with Pakistan in a five-match ODI series starting with the first ODI scheduled to begin on March 15 in the UAE. This will be Australia’s last international assignment before the start of the 2019 World Cup. Thus, the players will be looking forward to the upcoming series as a final opportunity to push their respective cases further to secure a World Cup spot.
It is always nice to get a positive kick
After an impressive BBL 08 season, right-arm fast bowler Kane Richardson earned a recall to the Australian team for the limited-overs tour to India. However, without even getting a chance, he was forced to return back home due to a side injury. Richardson has now fully recovered from his side injury and also rejoined his Aussie teammates ahead of the ODI series against Pakistan.
"I thought I was done for the season. So it's always nice to get a positive [kick] and be able to come back and play some sort of cricket. It could have been a lot worse but also disappointing to miss the last tour," quoted Kane Richardson.
We bring massive momentum into this series
Richardson, who was not present with his team to be part of spectacular celebrations after the series win in India, feels that the visitors will be going into the Pakistan series with some massive momentum. He revealed that every game is an important leading up to the World Cup. Richardson also mentioned that the upcoming ODIs against Pakistan is a huge series for the defending World Cup champions.
"It was amazing waking up every morning to check the scores and see they did it again. (We bring) massive momentum into this series, but you want to back it up. It's professional sport, you want to win every game and this is a huge series going into the World Cup. We climbed the mountain of (beating) India now it's about backing it up against Pakistan who are another quality side," he added.
