The tenth game of the fascinating Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season played between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was an absolute nail-biting expedition. After a long, intriguing battle of 40 overs, the match ended in a draw and then the matters proceeded into the one-over eliminator. In the Super Over, while defending a total of 10 runs, Delhi pacer Kagiso Rabada delivered an exceptional performance to steer his team to a spectacular victory.
Earlier in the match, KKR posted a massive first innings total on the back of Andre Russell and Dinesh Karthik’s blazing half-centuries. In the second innings, Prithvi Shaw composed a stupendous knock to help his team claim a domination position in the game. But after his wicket, a dramatic ending occurred as the rest of the batters failed to close the game which in turn took it towards the Super Over finish.
To bowl that kind of a delivery is unbelievable
KKR needed 11 runs off the one-over eliminator and then came the dangerous Andre Russell on the crease. He smashed Rabada for a fantastic boundary off the very first ball. But then Rabada came back strongly, nailing a perfect yorker to dismiss the big West Indian and eventually helped his team pick up a smashing win.
“Kagiso Rabada’s Super Over and the ball that he bowled to Andre Russell is probably going to be the ball of the IPL. To bowl that kind of a delivery to Andre Russell, who is probably in the form of his life, is unbelievable,” said DC advisor Sourav Ganguly.
This team needed this win
Ganguly mentioned that the team needed this win desperately. He reckoned that these sorts of wins will change the confidence of this young Delhi team. “This team needed this win. They did not have a great season last year. It’s a young team. These sorts of wins change the confidence. It is still a long season, but this win is more than just a win,” added Ganguly.
