Ashwin’s Bowling Has Been Extremely Good Says David Miller

The Ravichandran Ashwin-led Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) registered a sensational 12-run victory over Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the PCA Stadium in Mohali on Tuesday. The KXIP skipper, Ashwin was the star performer for his team last night, picking two crucial wickets and also contributing with some vital runs with the bat to guide his team towards a pretty challenging first innings total. He was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his all-round performance in the game. With this win, KXIP have now climbed on the fourth position in the points table.

Ashwin has contributed extremely well with bat and ball

After the game KXIP batsman David Miller addressed the media reporters during the post-match press conference and mentioned some praiseworthy comments for his skipper. Miller noted that Ashwin has been really good both with the bat and the ball. The KXIP skipper smashed a vital 4-ball 17 and ended with excellent figures of 2 for 24 in the yesterday’s game. The off-spinner has so far scalped 11 wickets from 9 games played this season.

“(Skipper) Ashwin has contributed extremely well with bat and bowl. His bowling has been extremely good. His economy rate has been really low and he’s got wickets as well. He has been a huge asset in our bowling department and again tonight he bowled really well and it was great performance leading from the front,” said David Miller.

Our bowlers did their job

KXIP leg-spinner Murugan Ashwin also bowled really well (1/24) to contain the opposition batters in the middle-overs stage. Miller stated that the spinners, Ravi Ashwin and Murugan Ashwin bowled extremely well and that kept the home team in the game. For KXIP, the trio of Mohammed Shami, Ravi Ashwin and Arshdeep Singh ended with two wickets each in the winning effort.

“We tried to use big side of the boundary to advantage. Both Ashwins bowled extremely well, they kept us in the game in that middle period… Rajasthan needed 50 odd in the last three overs, but our bowlers did their job and we are happy with that,” Miller added.
