IPL 2019, Match 41- CSK Vs SRH, Preview: Hurt Super Kings Aim To Turn Down Bairstow’s Farewell Game

In the 41st match of the intriguing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 expedition, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be up against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 23. Both the teams are coming into this game after witnessing contrasting results in their respective previous outings. While when these two teams met each other earlier this week, SRH registered a clinical 6-wicket victory over the MS Dhoni-less Super Kings team.

CSK’s backstory

The MS Dhoni-led Chennai Super Kings will be entering this match after conceding a heartening 1-run defeat at the hands of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the previous game. However, the defending champions are still are comfortably placed in the playoffs race at the top position on the points table. But the concerns before this game are almost similar ones for the CSK team management. The constant ideology of keeping utmost faith in Shane Watson and Ambati Rayudu has not been able to provide the desired returns and that has been the major disappointment for CSK this season.

Dwayne Bravo’s return boosted CSK’s death bowling and that was clearly evident in the last game. With the likes of Deepak Chahar, Imran Tahir, Ravindra Jadeja and Dwayne Bravo in this type of form, the CSK bowling line-up is looking in an absolute dazzling form and the team management would be expecting them to keep up the good work in the rest of the games as well.

SRH’s backstory

On the other side, the Kane Williamson-led team is coming into this game after recording a sensational 9-wicket win against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the last match. With this victory, SRH climbed to the fourth position on the points table and are portraying to be in a great site to claim a spot in the playoffs. However, the last victory once again buried down the middle-order batting woes as Jonny Bairstow and David Warner boiled down the pressure with a staggering opening partnership. The middle-order batters’ performances will surely be under the scanner in this match.

After starting on a low, the SRH bowlers are slowly arriving in their best of forms. The inclusion of left-arm fast bowler, Khaleel Ahmed has really bolstered their bowling attack and after his inclusion, the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Rashid Khan have also stepped up and they will be looking to perform in the same manner in the rest of the season as well.

Chennai Super Kings’ likely Playing XI

Even after conceding a loss in the last match, CSK are likely to field the same playing eleven which played against RCB. However, it will be very much interesting to see whether they persist with Shane Watson or not. If he gets dropped, Ambati Rayudu is likely to get one final chance to prove his worth but this time while opening the innings along with Faf du Plessis. Suresh Raina will head the middle-order which will also include the likes of skipper MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav.

Sam Billings will come in for Watson, while Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja will be the two all-rounders. Jadeja will also handle the spin bowling duties along with Imran Tahir. Dwayne Bravo will partner with Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar in the pace bowling department.

Probable XI: Ambati Rayudu, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Kedar Jadhav, Sam Billings, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Shardul Thakur, Imran Tahir.

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s likely Playing XI

After recording a brilliant victory in the previous match, SRH team management don’t have any major reasons to tinker with the winning combination. This means that the in-form duo comprising of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow will once again take the guard as the openers. This will be Bairstow’s last game of this season as he will be leaving for national duty after this encounter. Kane Williamson will take up the crucial number three position and the highest run-getter of VIVO IPL 2018 will surely be desperate to be back amongst the runs. Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan will take the other middle-order batting positions.

Shahbaz Nadeem will retain his spot after a decent performance in the last match and will partner with Rashid Khan in the spin bowling department. The trio of Khaleel Ahmed, Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Sandeep Sharma will form part of the fast bowling attack.

Probable XI: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shahbaz Nadeem, Sandeep Sharma, Khaleel Ahmed.
