Mumbai Indians (MI) have roped in South African fast bowler Beuran Hendricks as replacement for injured Alzarri Joseph. However, previously Joseph came in the side as a replacement for Adam Milne. The Windies right-arm fast bowler, Joseph made a storming IPL debut in the game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), recording a superlative performance to pick up a magnificent six-wicket haul to help Mumbai Indians defend a thin first innings total of 136 runs. He finished with scintillating figures of 6 for 12 which is also the best figures recorded by any player in the 12 years history of the IPL.
While in the following games Joseph leaked too many runs and also failed to pick up wickets regularly. He then conceded a disappointing arm injury while fielding in the boundary region during the game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) on April 13. Joseph dislocate is bowling arm while putting in a dive to save a boundary at the long-off region during his third game of the season.
Hendricks picked as replacement
As Joseph’s replacement, the three-time IPL champions have recruited Proteas speedster Beuran Hendricks. The left-arm fast bowler has previously played in the IPL for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in 2014 and 2015. He has scalped nine wickets from ten games at an economy of 9.40 in the IPL. While playing for South Africa, Hendricks has picked up 16 wickets in 10 Twenty20 International matches and at an impressive average of 18.94. He has also played two ODIs for his national side.
The Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians have thus far won six of the ten games played in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). With a tally of 12 points in their baggage, the three-time champions find themselves in a very comfortable position with respect to qualify for the knockouts stage. Mumbai Indians are scheduled to lock horns with the defending champions, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) on April 26 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
