IPL 2019, Match 44- CSK Vs MI, Preview: Heavyweight Teams Ready To Fight Out In The Second Bout Of The Season

After the exciting battle in Kolkata, it is time to shift the focus on another blockbuster encounter between two heavyweight teams. In the 44th game of the intriguing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 expedition, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be locking horns with the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on April 26. Both the teams will be coming into this game after experiencing contrasting results in their respective previous outings. While in the first meeting between these two teams earlier in the competition, hosts Mumbai picked up a sensational 37-run victory over the defending champions.

CSK’s backstory

The MS Dhoni-led team is coming into this game after recording a brilliant 6-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last match. With this win, CSK also became the first team in IPL 2019 to successful book a berth in yet another playoffs. CSK gained one big positive from the victory against SRH in veteran opener Shane Watson’s stupendous form arrival. Keeping behind the horrific struggles, Watson finally announced himself in IPL 2019 in a stylish manner with a staggering 96-run knock in previous outing.

Now the only the concerning factor for the CSK team management from the batting point of view is the form of Ambati Rayudu. In 11 games played this season, the right-hander has managed just 213 runs at a meagre average of 23.66. The bowlers have displayed sensational performances so far in the season, with the spinners and fast bowlers both doing really well. They will be looking to continue the good work in this game as well.

MI’s backstory

On the other hand, the Rohit Sharma-led team will be entering this match on the back of a convincing 5-wicket defeat against the Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the previous outing. However, in spite of this loss, the three-time champions find themselves in a pretty comfortable position in the race to book a place in the knockouts. MI have won six of the ten games played thus far in the tournament. However, the middle-order batting woes continues to be biggest stressing factor for the team management.

While in the bowling department, the likes of Rahul Chahar, Jasprit Bumrah and Lasith Malinga have done really well with the ball thus far in the season. They will be hoping to continue flourish in this game as well and keep up the good work.

Chennai Super Kings’ likely Playing XI

After ending up winning the last match by a handsome margin, the CSK team management have absolutely no major reasons to tinker with the perfect combination. This means the in-form Shane Watson will open the innings along with Faf du Plessis. Suresh Raina will come in at three with the struggling Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni and Kedar Jadhav to follow.

Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja will be the two all-rounders. CSK will once again field three spinners in Harbhajan, Tahir and Jadeja, while Bravo and Deepak Chahar are the seam bowling options.

Probable XI: Shane Watson, Faf du Plessis, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, MS Dhoni (c & wk), Kedar Jadhav, Dwayne Bravo, Ravindra Jadeja, Deepak Chahar, Harbhajan Singh, Imran Tahir.

Mumbai Indians’ likely Playing XI

The explosive duo comprising of skipper Rohit Sharma and Quinton de Kock will once again take the guard as the two openers. It will be interesting to see whether the team management continues to back the out-of-form Suryakumar Yadav or not. The big-hitting combination of Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard and Ben Cutting will be expected to play a major role.

Considering the Chepauk wicket, Mumbai will also retain their three spin bowling options in Chahar, Markande and Pandya. Lasith Malinga and Jasprit Bumrah will be the two frontline fast bowlers.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Suryakumar Yadav, Ben Cutting, Hardik Pandya, Krunal Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Rahul Chahar, Lasith Malinga, Mayank Markande, Jasprit Bumrah.
