IPL 2019, Match 49- RCB Vs RR, Preview: Battered Bangalore Aim To Upset To Smith’s Farewell Party

In the 49th game of the fascinating Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 extravaganza, Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be hosting the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on April 30. Both the teams will be coming into this game after witnessing contrasting results in their respective previous outings. While in the first meeting between these two teams earlier in the tournament, RR team emerged victorious with a comprehensive 7-wicket victory.

RCB’s backstory

The Virat Kohli-led team will be entering this match on the back of conceding a heartening 16-run loss at the hands of Delhi Capitals (DC) in the previous game. With this defeat, RCB have only left themselves to play for pride thus far in the rest of the tournament as even after winning both the remaining games, they won’t be able to qualify for the playoffs. The same old problems unfolded for RCB in the last match as the dependency on Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers was clearly evident.

The middle-order batters failed to take the team over the line in the last game and that has been the story of RCB’s batting in this season. While the KKR bowlers had a mixed outing in the previous match as they bowled well in the middle-overs but did an awful job at the start and the back end as well. Both the batters and bowlers would now be hoping to put forward an improved effort in this game.

RR’s backstory

On the other hand, the Steve Smith-led team is coming into this game after recording a convincing 7-wicket win over the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the last outing. With this victory, the inaugural champions also kept their hopes of qualifying for the playoffs very much alive and kicking. However, in order to remain in the contention, they need to win both their next two games as well.  Each of the batsmen gave their share of contribution in the collective effort in the last match. They will now be expected to continue this form in the upcoming games as well.

The RR bowlers also did a fantastic job during the middle-overs stage as well as in the death in the previous game. The biggest positive from the bowling perspective was the performance of Jaydev Unadkat, who was adjudged the Man of the Match for his excellent figures of 2 for 26. He, as well as the other bowlers, will be eyeing to come good in the rest of the matches as well.
