He Is A Great Leader Says Shivam Dube On Virat Kohli’s Captaincy

After a disappointing run in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 edition, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s (RCB) skipper Virat Kohli’s leadership skills once again came under the scanner. The Virat Kohli-led team finished with the wooden spoon this year as they could only manage a tally of 11 points with eight losses, five wins and one game ending without a result. However, RCB’s young all-rounder Shivam Dube reckons that Kohli is a great leader who has always kept the team together.

The Bangalore-based franchisee’s IPL 2019 campaign was divided into two halves. The franchise started off their season in the IPL with six straight losses and despite a few wins in between, that looked like a comeback, they managed to sit on the most bottom position on the points table all season. However, they did manage to end things on a positive note by winning the last game by 4 wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the M.Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.

It’s a great opportunity to be mentored by him

During a recent interview, Shivam Dube mentioned that Virat Kohli is undoubtedly the best players in the RCB team at this moment. He revealed that it is surely a great opportunity to be mentored and playing under Kohli’s captaincy. Dube noted that it is a dream of every young cricketer to play alongside the Indian captain, Kohli, as it helps with some great learning.

“Virat (bhaiya) is undoubtedly the best player we have in our team (RCB) at the moment. It’s a great opportunity to be mentored by him and playing under him,” Shivam Dube was quoted as saying by IANS.

“I think every young cricketer wants to play with him at least once, sharing the crease with him is something that goes a long way in helping you learn. I was lucky to have been able to play under him in this IPL,” he added.

Dube further mentioned that he has learnt a lot of things from Virat. He noted that the skipper has managed the team well and also kept the entire team together. “I have been able to learn a lot of things from him, including his way of managing the team and keeping the entire team together. He is a great leader,” Dube furthered.

The 25-year-old seam-bowling all-rounder did not have the best of IPL debut seasons this year as he rather did not get much of opportunities. While speaking about his own performance, Dube said, “I gave my 100 per cent but unfortunately it wasn’t enough for our team as a whole. I know I have more to achieve and I can definitely do much better. I am confident I will get more chances in different formats of the game.”
