Ahead of the staggering summit clash of the 12TH edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) with the record fourth title at stake, former Australian batting legend Matthew Hayden has heaped a whole lot of praises for MS Dhoni. The CSK skipper led his team to their eighth IPL final and has already won three trophies and registered many astounding records in the history of the tournament.
“You know Dhoni, he is not just a player, he is an era of cricket. In many ways I think MS is like the captain of the gully cricket team, he is one of us, he will do anything,” quoted Matthew Hayden.
Hayden lauds Dhoni’s all-round skills
While talking about Dhoni’s temperament and his way of dealing with his team, Hayden said, “You see how he warms up, he bowls his leg spinners, he catches, he asks players and people around the squad on how they are doing and he is so relaxed, I think we can all relate to him because we all have busy lives working around with friends and families and that’s a big commitment.”
Hayden further mentioned that Dhoni brings in that calm feeling which also spreads around in the team. He noted that Dhoni is the type of a leader, who can probably run the nation. The CSK skipper has led his team from the front this season, compiling a sensational tally of 414 runs in 11 innings at a phenomenal average of more than 100.
“So, someone like that at the helm will make you feel calm, will make you feel relaxed and that’s why Thala Dhoni that word ‘Thala’, obviously meaning the leader of Chennai, but you it’s almost like leader of a nation,” the former Australian cricketer added.
