Team India will start their campaign for the World Cup 2019 from June 5 while locking horns against the South Africa. After the commencement of the Indian Premier League, the players will now be totally focus on their preparation for the World Cup. However, the number 4 debacle is one of the most vulnerable areas in the World Cup. The Indian coach, Ravi Shastri recently opiniated on the issue saying that the team has plenty of options for the No.4 position of the team.
Its horses for courses, we have got enough ammunition there says Shastri
Team India first placed their trust on Ambati Rayudu to fill the position however; he couldn’t place his bet on the team for a longer time. The selectors have then tried, Vijay Shankar to play at the spot, however the coach thinks that there are plenty of options in the team to fill the No.4 spot.
Ravi Shastri said that India has a flexible team and they have got brilliant players to bat at the No.4 spot. He also said that he isn’t worried about it. “I don’t think so because for me we are a flexible team. Its horses for courses, we have got enough ammunition there, enough players who can bat at 4. So, I am not really worried about that,” said Shastri.
Shankar is a three-dimensional player says Shastri
He further placed his bid on Vijay Shakar as a strong contender and a probable candidate for the key position. He said that MSK Prasad, the chief selector thinks that Shankar is a three-dimensional cricketer and he has more experience of handling the position than Rayudu. Since 2015, India has tried several combinations for that post, including, Rayudu, Ajinkya Rahane, Yuvraj Singh and Manish Pandey.
He has had an impressive outing earlier this year, after he concluded the Indian Premier League 2019, with 244 runs in 15 matches for Sunrisers Hyderabad.
