West Indies is soon going to play against Bangladesh however the fitness of few of their players is being considered over here. They have to wait until the morning to make a call against Andre Russell’s fitness and according to Jason Holder, the management is keeping him in cotton until their match against the Bangladeshi squad. On the other hand, West Indies has managed not much earned victories in the World Cup with Lewis managing only three runs in tow innings. Bravo getting a duck in his only at-bat. One of them is going to open with Chris Gayle on Monday against Bangladesh. However the skipper of the team, Jason Holder isn’t worried about the status of the two batsmen in the team.
“Everybody is hungry for runs. I guess a few guys haven’t gone on and capitalised on a few starts that they have got on. Some guys haven’t really got on any starts. It’s another opportunity for them to come to the priority, to get some confidence going into the back half of this tournament. And, yeah, starting tomorrow against Bangladesh,” says Holder.
It’s quite a good stage to pick up momentum as well
He further said that the stage is perfect for the team to pick up momentum in the World Cup. he further said that the team is in full confidence to do it as well. “It’s quite a good stage to pick up momentum as well. And we’re full confidence that we can do it. We’ve just got to take it game by game. Tomorrow is a challenge against Bangladesh, and we just want to get over Bangladesh and move forward,”says the skipper.
Pooran has been really good
He further appreciated Nicholas Pooran who is the team’s run getter with his score of 137 and a strike rate of 103. “Pooran has been really good. I’m really pleased with his progress so far. He’s shown a lot of maturity, which is really good for a young player. And he’s got quite a few shots in his locker. And it’s really good to see from a young talent. So I just want him to continue in the way he’s been going at this, I guess, for him, making a mark for himself extremely hard. He would like a hundred. So let’s hope tomorrow he steps up tomorrow and carries it deeper,” concluded Holder.
