The World Cup campaign of the Afghanistan team ended with a horrific turn after they lost their final tie against West Indies. They did not even win any match in the ongoing league matches of the World Cup but they did make headlines for all the wrong reasons. The issues of the off-field continue further and refuse to die down. The latest case came forth of the speedster of the team, Aftab Alam when he was sent back at the midway of the tournament.
The action was taken, since Alam was found to be misbehaving with a female guest that gave a bad reputation of the Afghanistan national team. This might also be the reason why the team has been performing bad in the entire World Cup campaign.
Alam was found to be misbehaving with a lady guest during the World Cup
The major reason for such a standstill performance can be dedicated to their lack of experience at a grandest stage. The team failed to register times of disciple and that is the biggest reason why the team failed to make such a mark in the World Cup. This then led to the pacer, Aftab Alam packing his bags because of the breach of the ICC disciplinary code of conduct by the Afghanistan player.
The board went on further with unbelievable revelations. According to the ACB report released, Alam was found to be misbehaving with a lady guest during the World Cup stay at the New Hampshire match after the match against India. “The disciplinary committee has already been assigned to carry out the investigation in the Alam incident and asked to submit the report in a week,” read the report of the ACB.
He was found to hide things from the ACB
Not only this, but after the Annual Meeting in Kabul, the ACB’s team manager NavedSayem has also been suspended because of his inability to report about the players in the proper order. “Mashal further added that Sayem was suspended as he was found guilty of not reporting the incident properly.”He was found to hide things from the ACB. That is why it was decided to suspend him and investigate. As for the player (Alam), we will formalise the sanction against him once the disciplinary committee submits its report,” said ACB.
