Karthik And Kumaran Brilliant Efforts Leads Panthers

After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Madurai Panthers got off to a blazing start with the two openers, Arun Karthik and A Sarath Raj adding 43 runs in 3.5 overs. Sarath Raj got out in the fourth over after scoring 20 runs off 9 balls that consisted of three sixes. The duo of Karthik and Adhithya Giridhar then joined hands to steady the innings with a fine partnership of 67 runs for the second wicket.

Karthik led his side from the front, smashing a sensational knock of 106 runs off just 61 balls that included of 13 fours and 4 sixes. He stitched a vital partnership of 47 runs along with Jagatheesan Kousik for the fourth wicket.

Towards the end, Kousik remained unbeaten at 43 off 23 balls as the Madurai Panthers finished with 195 for 5 in 20 overs. For Lyca Kovai Kings, Ajith Ram picked up two crucial wickets, while Natarajan, Vignesh and Antony claimed a scalp each.

Kumaran’s four-fer deflates Kovai Kings

Chasing a big target of 196 runs in the second innings, Shahrukh Khan and Anirudh Sita Ram started off decently scoring 32 runs for the first wicket partnership. Shahrukh got dismissed in the third over and then followed a batting collapse as the Kovai Kings crumbled to 55 for 4. Skipper Abhinav Mukund and Akkil Srinaath then stitched a vital stand of 51 runs before the latter got out in the 14th over.

Mukund played an excellent innings of 50 runs off 38 balls and after his dismissal, the Kovai Kings’ progress also collapsed. Eventually the Lyca Kovai Kings finished with 172 for 9 in 20 overs. For the Panthers, N Selva Kumaran picked up a brilliant four-wicket haul.
