After losing the toss and being asked to bat first, Maratha Arabians got off to a horrendous start losing the wicket of Adam Lyth off the very first ball of the match. The batting duo of Chris Lynn and Chadwick Walton also got out pretty soon leaving the Arabians at 32 for 3. Abu Dhabi T10 League’s icon player Yuvraj Singh disappointed the fans as he could manage to score just 6 runs.
Shanaka powers Arabians to a strong total
The pair of Dasun Shanaka and James Fuller then joined hands to resurrect the Maratha innings. Fuller scored 13 runs that included of two fours before getting dismissed by Andre Russell. Towards the end, Shanaka smashed an unbeaten knock of 37 runs off 19 balls to help Maratha Arabians post 88 for 6 in 10 overs. For the Northern Warriors, Andre Russell and Chris Wood picked up two wickets each.
In the second innings, the Northern Warriors lost the wicket of their opening batsman Sam Billings quite early in the third over with just 12 runs on the board. Andre Russell came out to bat at number three and didn’t take much time to unleash his power-hitting prowess. The West Indian all-rounder started smashing the opposition bowlers in all parts of the ground.
Russell smashes the first fifty of Abu Dhabi T10 League
Russell blasted the first half-century of the Abu Dhabi T10 League off just 21 balls. Russell and George Munsey stitched an excellent unbeaten partnership of 79 runs to power Northern Warriors to an emphatic victory in just 7 overs. Russell played a match-winning knock of 58 runs off just 24 balls, while Munsey remained unbeaten at 24 runs off 16 balls.
