India is all set to lock horns with Australia in a three-match ODI series at home and it is expected to be one of the most exciting and thrilling limited-overs affair of this season. Both the teams will surely finding it tough to pick the best combination as one eye will definitely be on this year’s T20 World Cup to be played in Australia. Indian captain Virat Kohli has one big choice to make while picking the opening partner for Rohit Sharma.
While Shikhar Dhawan was out with injury, KL Rahul did everything what was expected from him as he scored tons of runs in the handful of ODIs and T20Is he got and more importantly, all his runs came in an impactful manner. However, Dhawan also proved his form with a blistering half-century in the recently concluded final T20I against Sri Lanka. During the pre-match press conference, Kohli also accepted the fact that the present form all the players will come into consideration.
“All guys in form is always a good thing for the team. You don’t want a guy out of form for him not to start in the XI. You obviously want to have the best players available and then choose from what the combination should be for the team. We’ll figure out what combination we want to go in with, there’s a possibility all three might play,” quoted Virat Kohli.
“Yeah, big possibility, very happy to [change my batting position], the in-form batsmen. I’m not possessive about where I play and I’m not insecure about where I bat. Being the captain of the team, it’s my job to make sure that the next lot is also ready as well,” the Indian captain further added.
