Ahead of the three-match ODI series against Australia at home, South Africa have suffered a huge blow in the form of Kagiso Rabada getting ruled out of the series. Incidentally, Rabada will also miss the next month’s India tour where South Africa is scheduled to play three ODIs. The fast bowler will miss cricketing action for four weeks. This means that he should be ready to take part in the forthcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) for the Delhi Capitals which is scheduled to commence on March 29.
"Kagiso (Rabada) sustained a groin muscle strain in the T20 series against Australia, he was assessed by the medical staff, assisted by an MRI scan. The significant injury means that he will take approximately four weeks to heal, which effectively rules him out of both the Australia and India ODI series," Cricket South Africa Chief Medical Officer, Dr Shuaib Manjra, said.
"The CSA medical staff will ensure his effective and expeditious recovery."
South Africa are yet to announce a replacement for Rabada. On the other hand, Temba Bavuma has recovered from the hamstring injury that makes him available for the ODI series against Australia. The first ODI between South Africa and Australia is scheduled to start on March 29 in Paarl.
