After the conclusion of the ongoing two-match T20I series, both India and Australia will resume their exciting battle in a five-match ODI series starting with the first ODI scheduled to begin on March 2 in Hyderabad. This will be India’s last ODI series before the all-important 2019 World Cup. It is expected that many players’ performances will be observed pretty closely in order to fill the remaining slots for the upcoming mega event in England and Wales. Former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar also feels that the upcoming ODI series against Australia will be a good practice for the Men in Blue before the World Cup.
The visiting Australian team recorded a fabulous 3-wicket victory in the first T20I match against India last night to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match T20I series. The second T20I match is scheduled to take place on February 27 in Bengaluru. After the two-match T20I series, both the teams will lock horns in the first of the five-match ODI on March 2 in Hyderabad. The long tour will end with the final ODI match on March 13 in Delhi.
Australia are one of the best oppositions says Dilip Vengsarkar
Vengsarkar reckons that the coming five-match ODI series against the Aussies will offer a great preparation to Team India before the 2019 World Cup. He believes that Australia will give a tough competition to the hosts in the upcoming limited-overs series. Before the World Cup, Indian players will also be playing for their respective franchises in the 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) starting from March 23.
“Australia are one of the best oppositions and (it is) a good practice before the World Cup because they (India) won’t be able to get to play many games (ODIs) as the IPL starts,” quoted Dilip Vengsarkar.
