ICC is all to organize its quarterly meeting in Dubai this week and the awaited meeting will involve some new revelations as representative of both staunch cricket boards, India and Pakistan will have to discuss the probability of the teams facing each other in the World Cup 2019. In case BCCI puts forth the point of boycotting Pakistan for the mega event, the PCB officials are all set with a counter to it. The rivals, India and Pakistan are all set to face each other on June 16 in Manchester; however the probability of the teams fighting in the mega event is a bit dicey.
This comes forth in the wake of the merciless Pulwama attack undertaken by Jaish-e-Mohammed which led to the martyrdom of the 44 CRPF personnel. This led to rage and anger amongst the Indian masses that involved boycotting of Pakistan completely. Not only this, but IMG-Reliance which was the chief broadcaster of the PSL, pulled out of the deal after DSport stopped the broadcasting of PSL in India. Even the pictures of the Pakistani players had been removed from the premises of several cricketing bodies in India.
BCCI wrote a letter to ICC asking to boycott Pakistan from the upcoming World Cup
It was informed that BCCI wrote a letter to the ICC requesting the cricketing community to sever ties with countries that breed terrorism and related activities. However, no concrete decision has been reached till now, it is said that the quarterly meeting of ICC, starting on Wednesday, will be the right platform for both the cricketing boards, BCCI and PCB to discuss the matter in detail. The PCB Chairman, Ehsan Mani, MD Wasim Khan, COO Subhan Ahmad are all in Dubai, attending the various meeting and workshops organized by the ICC.
A delegation meeting is organized on Friday and Saturday in which it is informed that the BCCI officials are expected to put forth the letter for discussion in order to discuss the prospects of Pakistan being a part of the ICC World Cup 2019.
PCB is all ready with the counter in case BCCI decides to boycott them
The folklore of BCCI asking ICC to boycott Pakistan in the upcoming ICC World Cup edition has reached the PCB officials, as well and so it is known that the officials are already with a counter in case BCCI decides to boycott Pakistan. They are going to pose a question that if India and Pakistan qualify to meet each other in the knockout stages, then what is the BCCI going to do about it.
“Pakistan’s stance is that if India wants to give a walkover, it can’t do anything about it. But it will pose a question as to what happens if both countries again qualify to meet each other in the knockout stages,” the PCB official were quoted saying.
The Pulwama attack has already severed ties between the two nations who last fought with each other in the Asia Cup 2018.
