The last night’s IPL 2019 blockbuster encounter between hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) was an incredible high-scoring match in which a total of 399 runs were scored in total by both the teams. Sanju Samson smashed the first century of IPL 2019 to help the visitors post a mammoth first innings total of 198 runs. However, in spite of Samson scoring a terrific ton, his team ended up losing the game by a convincing margin. SRH leg-spinner Rashid Khan was adjudged as the Man of the Match for his excellent figures of 1/24 that too in a run-fest. He also scored the winning runs in the 19th over, smashing an entertaining cameo 15 runs off just 8 balls.
I am working on my batting
During the post-match presentation ceremony, Rashid revealed that he is working really hard on improving his batting. He mentioned that the SRH coaches have always showed immense confidence in his batting skills. He noted that he just needed to back himself and that is what he did yesterday.
“I am working on my batting. I need to bat well when my team needs me. My coaches — (Tom) Moody, Murali (Muttiah Muralitharan) and (V.V.S.) Laxman — have always backed me and given me lot of confidence saying you can hit anywhere, just a case of backing yourself. That’s what I did,” quoted Rashid Khan.
I am believing in my own skills
Rashid stated that he has started to believe in his own skills and that is working really well for him. “I think I just try my best to be positive in each game and I am working hard and believing in my own skills, so that’s what is working for me,” added Rashid.
In the last night’s encounter, Rashid got his team off to a great start, removing the dangerous RR batsman, Jos Buttler pretty cheaply. He revealed that he had planned to bowl in the good length area to Buttler. The Afghanistan leggie noted that he has five different leg-spin variations in his armory.
“The plan was to bowl in the good length area to Buttler, I have got him out a few times, so that’s why I came in early. I was mixing my variations. I have five different leg-spin variations with different actions. I just back myself with my variations and pitch it in the good length area,” concluded the SRH leg-spinner.
