The former Indian pacer, Zaheer Khan who played for Bengal Tigers said that he was happy playing the shortest format of the game of the reinvented Abu Dhabi T10 League. He said that it was the crowds that made it easy for him to play the game. He was also asked about his views regarding the shortest format of the game, to which he replied that the 10-over format has a bright future in the stadiums and is also going to be loved in large numbers at the Zayed Cricket Stadium.
Zaheer Khan looked fit even at 40 and was generating the same pace he used to do in his international cricketing days. He showcased his ability to contain the aggressive batsmen with his powerful speed. This could be learned from the fact that he stopped Andre Fletcher from making a half century. He even dismissed the Maratha Arabians batsman, Hazratullah Zazai with ease. Each time he bowled perfectly, he received applause from the crowd and that particularly made the difference for him.
It has been a fantastic experience says Zaheer Khan
He said that the Sharjah Stadium (previous ground) is very iconic and a number of matches have been played over there. He furthered by saying, that it is always wonderful to play in a stadium like this. “The Sharjah stadium is an iconic one. So many matches have been played here, so it is always wonderful to come back to the stadium and perform here. It is special when a franchise team does smaller things in a big way. It has been a fantastic experience with Bengal Tigers and a special journey for me,” said Khan.
The same has been reckoned by the coach of the Maratha Arabians, Wasim Akram who said, “The crowd has been loving it and so has the players and team owners. I have been coming to this stadium since many decades and the attitude of the fans have never changed. So it was nice to see them enjoying T10 League.”
The league has been shifted to the Zayed Cricket Stadium
After signing a five year contract with the Abu Dhabi Government, the new grounds for the extravaganza of the Abu Dhabi T10 League have been shifted to the Zayed Cricket Stadium. This was mainly done in order to allow more number of spectators in the stadium and enjoy the popular and the shortest format of the same. Even the name of the T10 Cricket League is changed to the Abu Dhabi T10 League and will commence its shortest format action from October 23, 2019.
