Keeping aside all the controversies and injury issues, Hardik Pandya is finally showing the glimpses of the all-rounder that India is craving for since ages. In the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), Pandya has displayed some sensational performances both with the bat and ball. In the last night’s encounter against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), the Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder played a decisive role in his team’s brilliant 37-run victory.
Hardik first played a blistering cameo of 25 runs off just 8 balls to lead his team towards a strong first innings finish. He then bowled a remarkable fast bowling spell to claim three crucial wickets at an impressive economy rate. For his fantastic performance, Hardik was adjudged as the Man of the Match.
Whatever happened cannot be undone
During a recent interview to IANS, a national selector mentioned that the selectors are very much pleased to see Hardik doing well in the IPL. The selector noted that this shows that the player has moved on and is currently focussing on his game. He reckoned that it is very important to learn from those mistakes.
“The World Cup is round the corner and as selectors it is pleasing to the eye when you see someone like Hardik doing so well for Mumbai. It clearly shows that he has moved ahead and is focusing on his game. Whatever happened cannot be undone. But how you learn from those mistakes and rise is what is a true test of your character,” quoted the national selector.
He has that X-factor
According to some sources, there was a similar feeling with respect to Hardik in the Indian team management. The source revealed that Pandya has the ability and X-factor in him to win the game even from the impossible situations. It reckoned that the Mumbai Indians all-rounder is one player who likes to rise above the challenge.
“He has that X-factor. He is fearless in his approach. Say, you are faced with a situation in the World Cup when you have an improbable chase on hand, he could win you the game. Or if you need quick wickets, the captain can always hand him the ball. He is one of those guys who loves to rise to the challenge. An in-form Hardik is always an advantage for the Indian team,” the source was quoted as saying.
