IPL 2019, Match 17- RCB Vs KKR, Preview: Shattered Bangalore Desperate To Open Its Account

After an intense encounter in Delhi, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 saga now moves to the 17th game of the season in which Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) will be squaring off with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 5 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. The Virat Kohli-led team has once again started the tournament on a dreadful note, conceding four consecutive defeats and in turn they are languishing last on the points table. On the other hand, the visitors have been on a rampant run in the season, winning two out of the three matches.

The hosts have lost all of their four games this season and thus they need to surely fix things up in real quick time before the time runs out. The struggling and inconsistent form of the two heavyweight batters, Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers has played a sizable role in RCB's depleting IPL 2019 campaign. The franchise's flashy recruit Shimron Hetmyer has also faltered to come to the party as of yet which has in turn piled on to the misery.

The RCB thinktank has also struggled to find a suitable bowling combination which can do the job at the start as well as during the death. The bowlers have struggled to find their feet in the penultimate phase of the game.

Barring the last game against Delhi, KKR batters have played exceptionally well in the season. The top-order as well as the middle-order has contributed significantly in the season so far. However, the only batsman whose performance has been under the barrel is Chris Lynn. He has managed to score just 37 runs from three games and thus, he badly needs to come back amongst the runs.

However, the biggest concerning point for the KKR team management is the form of the spinners as well as the fast bowlers. The bowlers have given away too many runs in all the three games this season. Thus, the bowlers need up their game in order lend support to the batters' performances.

Royal Challengers’ Bangalore’s likely Playing XI

The in-form Parthiv Patel will open the batting along with skipper Virat Kohli. After the recent loss, Kohli revealed that he will continue to make the desired changes even after not getting the results. AB de Villiers will take up the crucial No.3 spot and he too will be quite eager to play a match-winning knock in this game. The out of form Hetmyer will most likely make way for Heinrich Klaasen. In that case, last game's wicket keeper Akshdeep Nath could come on the bench as Klaasen will take the gloves and Shivam Dube can also make a comeback.

Marcus Stoinis will retain his place after a decent debut. Nathan Coulter-Nile will come in for Moeen Ali. Umesh and Siraj will be the other fast bowlers, while Chahal and Sundar are the two spinners.

Probable XI: Parthiv Patel, Virat Kohli (c), AB de Villiers, Marcus Stoinis, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Shivam Dube, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Washington Sundar, Umesh Yadav, Mohammed Siraj, Yuzvendra Chahal.

Kolkata Knight Riders’ likely Playing XI

The explosive pair of Chris Lynn and Sunil Narine will be the two openers. Narine who missed the last game due to injury will be back. Robin Uthappa will come in at three with Nitish Rana to follow at number four. KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik and the belligerent Andre Russell will be guarding the finishers' role, while Shubman Gill will once again play as a floater.

Nikhil Naik had an unimpressive debut and he is likely to be back on the bench. Ferguson and Krishna along with Russell will take care of the fast bowling duties, while Kuldeep, Piyush and Narine will be the three spinners.

Probable XI: Chris Lynn, Sunil Narine, Robin Uthappa, Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Andre Russell, Shubman Gill, Lockie Ferguson, Piyush Chawla, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna.
