IPL 2019, Match 30- SRH Vs DC, Preview: Williamson-Boosted Sunrisers Seek To Strike Back Winning Ways On Home Run

In the second game of the entertaining IPL Sunday (April14), the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be locking horns with Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. It proved to be a cakewalk victory for the Bhuvneshwar Kumar-led team when these two teams met earlier in the tournament. However, both the teams are coming into this encounter after conceding contrasting results in their previous outings. The Shreyas Iyer-led team eclipsed the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) comprehensively in the last match, while the Sunrisers are coming off after conceding two straight losses.

SRH’s backstory

After winning three games in a row, the Sunrisers Hyderabad IPL 2019 campaign saw a massive tilt, losing two straight games by clinical margins. The biggest concern for the SRH team management right now is to figure out an instant solution to settle out the middle-order woes. In all the games played this season, after the wickets of the two dangerous openers, Jonny Bairstow and David Warner, the likes of Vijay Shankar, Manish Pandey, Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan have consistently failed to bat with some responsibility and build the innings.

Barring the two Afghanistan spinners, Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi, the fast bowling trio of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sandeep Sharma and Siddarth Kaul have also struggled to hit the right lengths on consistent basis. The SRH thinktank desperately need to address these issues pretty quickly in order to come back to winning ways.

DC’s backstory

For the Shreyas Iyer-led team the story is the other way round. Since the loss to SRH in the previous meeting, things have changed for the reinvented Capitals massively, winning two games in a row that too by convincing margins. However, the biggest positive for the team management and Team India as well came in the previous match against KKR, as opener Shikhar Dhawan stroked some well-needed form with a spectacular unbeaten 97-run knock. His opening partner, Prithvi Shaw’s inconsistent form will be a slight concern for the visitors, but he is expected to be back amongst the runs in this game.

Rishabh Pant also showed a lot of maturity in the previous game and this will serve him with great confidence for the upcoming matches. On the other hand, both the fast bowlers as well as spinners have been really impressive this season. They will be keen to keep up the good work in the rest of the season as well.

Head to Head Battle

Sunrisers Hyderabad’s likely Playing XI

The opening duo comprising of David Warner and Jonny Bairstow haven’t fired in the last two games and thus, they will be hungry to unleash their exploits in this game. The much-needed boost for the SRH fans is that regular skipper Kane Williamson is fit and thus, he will straightaway slot back into the side at the number three position. His inclusion will also bolster the struggling middle-order. After Williamson’s arrival, Vijay Shankar will probably bat down the order at five, while Manish Pandey will come in at four. Deepak Hooda and Yusuf Pathan will look after finishing duties.

Mohammad Nabi will be the unlucky one to miss out in order to accommodate Williamson. In the fast bowling department, Khaleel Ahmed will come in for Sandeep Sharma. Khaleel along with Bhuvneshwar and Siddarth will be three pacers, while Rashid Khan is the lone specialist spinner.

Probable XI: David Warner, Jonny Bairstow (wk), Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Vijay Shankar, Deepak Hooda, Yusuf Pathan, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Khaleel Ahmed, Siddarth Kaul.

Delhi Capitals’ likely Playing XI

After two comprehensive victories,, the team management have no reason to tinker with the winning combination. This means the in-form Shikhar Dhawan will open the batting along with Prithvi Shaw. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer will head the middle-order which will include the likes of Rishabh Pant and Colin Ingram. The middle-order batting positions are expected to be finalized in accordance with the situation of the game.

The all-rounder duo comprising of Chris Morris and Axar Patel will take up the finishers’ role.  Axar will also take care of the spin bowling duties along with Rahul Tewatia. While Morris will partner with Keemo Paul, Ishant and Rabada in the pace bowling department.

Probable XI: Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, Shreyas Iyer (c), Rishabh Pant (wk), Colin Ingram, Chris Morris, Axar Patel, Keemo Paul, Rahul Tewatia, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma
