IPL 2019, Match 37- DC Vs KXIP, Preview: Shreyas Iyer And His Men Ready To Take Down Replenished Punjab

In the second game of the blockbuster Saturday (April 20), Delhi Capitals (DC) will be locking horns with the Kings XI Punjab at the Feroz Shah Kotla in Delhi. Both the teams are coming into this game after witnessing contrasting results in their respective previous outings. While in the first meeting between these two teams earlier in the tournament, Punjab registered a sensational 14-run victory after Delhi got dealt with a monumental collapse in which they lost 7 wickets for 8 runs.

DC’s backstory

The Shreyas Iyer-led team has won five of the nine games played this season. The Delhi Capitals team will be entering this match after conceding a convincing 40-run loss in the previous game against Mumbai Indians (MI). After starting on a topsy-curvy note, Delhi has recovered greatly in the last few games and thus, they have a fabulous tally of 10 points in their baggage. However, they still have some definite issues with their batting.

The DC batters are yet to strike some sort of consistency this season and they would be expected to address the issue pretty quickly. But their bowling has been upto the mark in this season thus far as both the fast bowlers as well as the spinners have bowled really well. They would now be hoping to continue their good work in the upcoming games as well.

KXIP’s backstory

On the other hand, the Ravichandran Ashwin-led team is coming into this game after eclipsing Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the last match. Punjab has also witnessed similar fortunes like Delhi, recording five wins thus far in the tournament. However, the KXIP are yet to figure out definite solutions to sort out the major middle-order batting woes. The openers have given great starts in almost every game, but then the middle-order batters have always spoiled the things.

The middle-order batters definitely need to up their games in order to build on this winning momentum. While in the bowling department, the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Mohammed Shami and Murugan Ashwin have done really well this season and the rest of the bowlers have also lent their support very nicely. They will be looking to perform in the similar manner in the upcoming games of the tournament as well.
