I Hope That Hardik Pandya Carries The IPL Form Into The 2019 WC Says Yuvraj Singh

Seam bowling all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been in a stunning form while playing for Mumbai Indians (MI) in the ongoing 12th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). He was coming into the IPL after recovering from a back injury and now he has started to show the glimpses of the all-rounder which the Indian team has been craving for a long time. He has been finishing games successfully for Mumbai Indians on a consistent basis, smashing a remarkable tally of 373 runs from 13 games at a thunderous strike-rate of more than 197.

He recently undertook an audacious chase against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Eden Gardens when they were chasing a total of 233 in 20 overs. MI were four down for 58 in the ninth over when the all-rounder stepped in and belted 91 off just 32 balls to take his side close to the KKR total.

Mumbai eventually fell short of the target by 32 runs but Hardik’s knock ensured that their net run-rate didn’t suffer too badly to hurt their march into the playoffs. And then they also advanced to the next stage by winning the following game against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).

It is phenomenal

During a recent conversation, veteran Indian cricketer and the Player of the Tournament during the 2011 edition of the World Cup, Yuvraj Singh heaped praises on Hardik for his phenomenal show in IPL 2019. Besides his terrific finishing credentials, Hardik has also picked up 12 wickets with the ball thus far in the competition. Yuvraj stated that he hopes Hardik carries this form in the upcoming 2019 World Cup.

"Definitely, the way he (Pandya) is batting at the moment, it is phenomenal and I hope he carries that form (into the World Cup). He has been bowling well in patches but as I said it is all about how you handle the pressure... I just hope that Hardik has an awesome tournament, the way he is batting at the moment," quoted Yuvraj Singh during a recent promotional event.

Yuvraj is very much impressed with the Baroda cricketer’s batting in the tournament especially in the game against KKR. "He got 91 from 34 balls against KKR, probably that is the best innings I have seen in the IPL just because he hit four quality bowlers he was batting against. When you are doing that, you know that someone is batting very well," Yuvraj added.
