It Is Always Special To Finish The Match Says Rishabh Pant

Delhi Capitals (DC) finally took down the barriers and ended the home season with a sensational 5-wicket victory over the Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium in New Delhi on Saturday. The Delhi-based franchisee hasn't had a great at home in the history of the IPL. But they successfully trounced the record books this time. The DC bowling duo comprising of Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra delivered sensational spells to rattle the opposition within a paltry first innings total. Riyan Parag did play a gutsy knock but he never got any support from the rest of the players.

However, despite defending a below-par total, the RR bowlers did very well to somehow apply the brakes on the opposition’s progress early on, but eventually the scarcity of runs derailed the matters for the Royals. For Delhi, Rishabh Pant surprisingly played a sensible innings to take his team over the line. With this drubbing, RR have been knocked out of the competition, while DC have taken a step further towards the top two finish.

Pant happy to take the team home

Pant played a responsible unbeaten inning of 53 runs off 38 balls which included five sixes and two fours. After the game, Pant revealed that he is very much delighted to take his team over the line. He mentioned that he wanted to finish off things in this game as he had failed to do on the previous occasion.

“I am always happy whenever I am taking my team home. It’s always special when you finish the match. I couldn’t finish off the last match but today I finished off the match. We took it deep and chased it easily in the end,” quoted Rishabh Pant during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Pant stated that they had initially come out with a thought process of chasing down the total of 116 runs within a mere 10 overs. But the regular fall of wickets forced them to revise the plans. The southpaw Delhi batter also noted that they are very much ready to face off any team in the playoffs.

“Firstly, we were thinking about chasing it down within 10 overs but when we lost early wickets we just focused on winning this match. We are happy in playing any team in the playoffs. When seamers take early wickets on these kind of wickets, it becomes easy for the spinners,” Pant added.
