Reports: Yuvraj Singh To Feature In The Game Against KKR

In the second game of the blockbuster Sunday (May 5), Mumbai Indians (MI) will be locking horns with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. This is also the last match of the league stages of VIVO IPL 2019. The home team has already qualified for the playoffs of the tournament but they would surely want to win this game in order to finish as one of the top two teams which will provide them two opportunities to qualify for the finals.

On the other hand, the Knight Riders also desperately need a victory in this do-or-die encounter to become the fourth team in the playoffs battle. It was just last week when these two teams had their first meeting of the season where the Dinesh Karthik-led team recorded a brilliant 5-wicket victory over the visiting Mumbai team at the iconic Eden Gardens.

Yuvraj Singh set to make a comeback in the playing XI

With a place in the top two up for grabs, there is no chance of MI experimenting and according to the reports in India Today, they have decided to include the legendary Yuvraj Singh in the playing XI. The left-hander has donned the bench throughout the season after playing in just four matches scoring 98 runs which also includes a half-century in the losing cause. He scored his runs at a strike-rate of 130.67 and this move could eventually turn out to be game-changing for MI.

In order to accommodate Yuvraj Singh in the team, the team management will have to drop someone and the likes of Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav are the potential candidates to make way. Lewis has not looked convincing in the three games played thus far, while Yadav has also struggled to be amongst the runs in the last few matches, scoring just a single fifty this year.

Also, with Barinder Sran not performing to the expectations, Beuran Hendricks might make his debut for the Mumbai based franchise. He was roped into the squad as Alzarri Joseph’s replacement and is yet to play a game this season. The left-arm seamer has decent numbers in South Africa domestic circuit in the shortest format and could be a good pick for this crucial encounter.
