MS Dhoni is known for the crucial knocks in the quarter final and the semi-final of the World Cup 2011, aiding the team in winning the prestigious title. This was the way of conquering the field by MS Dhoni, becoming the second Indian captain after Kapil Dev to aid in the team winning the 50-over cup.
Another veteran player who was a part of the playing XI was Suresh Raina. He was able to register his presence in two such occasions, first in the 2011 and the second in the 2015 tournaments. He was a regular member in the Dhoni era, even being there in the IPL franchise, Chennai super Kings. Talking about the same, Raina said that Virat is confident when Dhoni is on the keeping side.

“On paper, he’s (Dhoni) not the captain. On the ground he’s the captain for Virat I think. His role is still the same. He communicates with the bowlers from behind the stumps, coordinates the field placements. He’s the captain of the captains. Virat feels confident when Dhoni is behind the stumps. He has always acknowledged that,” says Raina.
Raina was able to score his crucial 30 for not out against Australia in the quarter final and Pakistan in the semi-final of the 2011 World Cup aiding, the team in winning the title for the team. He says that Dhoni has the capability of judging things on the field better than anyone else and this will be an advantage to the captain.
India will play their first match for this World Cup 2019 on June 5
Raina further went on saying that 2019 edition is going to be a very big World Cup for the 37-year old Dhoni since it is going to be his last World Cup. He said that the current squad of the team is such that they are efficient enough to win the trophy and get it back home from England and Wales. The team’s intent in positive and so it is not going to be a difficult mission for Team India.
India although had a bad start in the warm-up matches of the tournament, losing against New Zealand on Saturday by 6 wickets. They are yet to play another warmup match against Bangladesh on Tuesday before they start their World Cup campaign against South Africa on June 5.
