I Think The Five Wickets Gave Me Greater Pleasure Says Shakib Al Hasan

Bangladesh had a big boost in their self-confidence after they went forth to win the match against Afghanistan on Monday. This came forth with the superb all-round display of the Bangladeshi all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan. With this the team has kept the hopes of reaching into the semi-finals alive in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 after their much needed 62-runs win over Afghanistan on Monday.

I had to work really hard with the bat

The foundation of the win was laid forth by the Bangladeshi squad to score 262 runs for seven and this made Shakib Al Hasan the leading run scorer in this year World’s Cup. The 32-year old star player was able to disfigure the Afghani batting line up with his amazing 5-29 figures in the 10 overs he bowled. This knock was his personal best as well. This makes Shakib the second player in the World Cup history to take five wickets and hit a half-century in the same match, the first one being the Indian player, Yuvraj Singh. “I had to work really hard with the bat. I think the five wickets gave me greater pleasure, it was important. I did work hard before the start of the tournament. It’s the best prepared I’ve been and it’s paying off,” said Shakib.

Shakib has been fantastic throughout the tournament

Bangladesh has also won important matches against South Africa and West Indies and currently at the fifth in the points table as well. England placed at the fourth spot will be facing Australia to settle into the top four of the semi-finals of the World Cup as well. The Mashrafe Mortaza led side is going to face India and Pakistan and will have to win both the matches in order to settle in the top four of the semi-final’s knockout matches. “Shakib has been fantastic throughout the tournament. We’ll try our level best against Pakistan and India. It’s still wide open,” said Mashrafe.
