Bangladesh are all set to host Zimbabwe and Afghanistan for a T20I tri-series. Although, Zimbabwe are currently suspended by the International Cricket Council, but this only holds for the ICC-organized tournaments. Senior Zimbabwe batsman Hamilton Masakadza has already announced that he will be retiring after this tri-series, has heaped praised for Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB).
"Bangladesh have shown a lot of support to us. We are very grateful to the Bangladesh Cricket Board that they have given us the opportunity to play cricket again,'' said Hamilton Masakadza.
Masakadza noted that the most essential outcome is that Zimbabwe team will be finally back in action. "Important thing is now we are playing and looking forward to get back on the field and playing again," the senior cricketer added.
He also talked about Bangladesh’s recent defeat against Afghanistan in the one-off Test match. Masakadza noted that he isn’t surprised by the performance of the visiting team on these kind of pitches. He stated about the fact that Afghanistan have got quality spinners and winning the toss also plays a crucial role.
"I am not surprised at Afghanistan's performance. On this kind of a wicket, winning the toss helps you in winning the game because they have got quality spinners," Masakadza mentioned.
Masakadza revealed about the challenges that Zimbabwe would be facing against Bangladesh and Afghanistan. Zimbabwe have tasted some decent success in the Bangladeshi conditions and they would be hoping to do well this time as well.
"We have some success here as well. Chances are very high but obviously we will be playing against two high quality teams and we want to go all the way," the Zimbabwe batsman concluded.
